    Restore your Apple TV 4

If you have Apple TV 4th generation and want to restore the Apple case to its original settings, you will need to follow these steps:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Then choose System.
    • Finally, select Reset .
You will have to choose a reset option among the proposed ones according to your initial need:

    • Reset : This is the fastest way to restore your device to factory settings and does not require an Internet connection.
    • Reset and update : This option restores your device to factory settings and installs software updates, requiring an Internet connection.
Once the option is selected, wait until the reset process is complete. You can then re-configure your device.

If you can not restore your device by following these instructions, you will need to restore via iTunes by connecting your media center to a PC.

Restore your Apple TV 3 or earlier

If you have Apple TV 3rd generation or earlier (smaller box than the latest current generation) , then the procedure will be the same:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Then select General.
    • Finally, choose Reset .
You will also need to choose a reset option from the following:

    • Reset : This is the fastest way to restore your device to factory settings and does not require an Internet connection.
    • Reset and update : This option restores your device to factory settings and installs software updates, requiring an Internet connection.
Once the option is selected, wait until the reset process is complete. You can then re-configure your device.

If you can not restore your device by following these instructions, you will need to restore via iTunes.

Restore your Apple TV via iTunes

Before you start to restore your device via iTunes , you must have a computer ( with internet connection ) on which iTunes is installed.

You will also need a USB-C cable for Apple TV ( 4th generation ) or a micro-USB cable for Apple TV ( 3rd generation or earlier ) .

Once these prerequisites have been met, it will be enough to follow these few steps:

    • Disconnect the HDMI cable and power cord from your device.
    • Open iTunes on your computer.
    • Connect the USB-C cable or micro-USB cable to your Apple TV.
    • Connect the other end of the USB-C or micro-USB cable to a USB port on your computer. In the case of an Apple TV 3rd or 4th generation , plug in the power cord. For an Apple TV 2nd Generation , leave this cord unplugged.
In iTunes , the Apple TV summary page should be displayed. If not, click the Apple TV icon at the top left.

    • Click Restore Apple TV . Do not disconnect any cables as long as the restore process is in progress.
    • After the restore is complete, unplug the USB-C or micro-USB cable , and the power cord.
