How-to Connect an AirPrint printer with Mac / iPhone

    Nowadays is more and more common to see printers connect to home equipment via the wifi network and Apple does not disappoint with its AirPrint functionality to print via Wifi !


    AirPrint the concept

    AirPrint
    is an Apple technology that allows you to print quality documents without having to download or install drivers. Its installation is therefore one of the simplest and fastest.

    Before ordering a new printer, first make sure that it supports this functionality, this will save you a lot of drivers and software. You will be able to confirm its compatibility thanks to the following pictogram:

    Most brands now offer AirPrint compatibility . However, you can refer to the following article to make sure: AirPrint compatibility .

    Your Apple devices must be in the following criteria:

    • iPhone / iPad in iOS 8 minimum
    • Mac under OS X 10.9 minimum
    Connecting an AirPrint printer to a Mac

    To connect your Mac to an AirPrint compatible printer , you will need to follow these steps:

    • Turn on your printer and make sure it is connected to the local network.
    • Go to the System Preferences.
    • Then select Printers and Scanners.
    • Click on the small "+" and your printer should appear in the list.
    • Select it and wait ….
    • At the end of the installation, your AirPrint printer will appear and you can now print from your Mac on your local network.
    • By connecting to your printer, you also have access to all the information provided by printer.



    Connecting an AirPrint printer to iPhone or iPad

    From your iPhone , you will also be able to print. Depending on the application you are using, the "Share" option will suggest (or not) print a document, or a photo.

    Let's take the example here of a mail from the Mail application standard on iOS:

    • Open the application and select an email to print
    • Click on the small icon to reply to the mail
    • Then click on " Print "
    • In the next window, select the first line to search for a printer and select it.
    • The printing is now ready and you can select some printing options.
