  • How to Download a YouTube Video on your iPhone or iPad

This is my tutorial on how to download YouTube videos on your iPhone without having to jailbreak. Also, it works on the iPad and is free. There are only a few quick steps to follow to download YouTube videos on your Apple devices.

To download YouTube videos on your iPhone or iPad, the first thing you need to do is get the app Documents 6, it’s an app file manager for iOS that lets you browse a folder system like the Finder in MacOS. Best of all its completely free, so download that in order to download YouTube videos on your iOS device.

The app is more than 100MB, so if you have limited data would be best to download it from a WiFi network. It’s an app that has lots of uses and today we will use to download videos from YouTube.

To do this, open the app and skip the tutorial. An image will appear on the upper left, where in the lower right corner you will see a symbol of Safari. Click and you will access the built – in browser app. In the address bar, type the URL “keepvid.com” without the quotes and press the Go button. As shown in the picture above.

It is possible that other similar websites may also work but we have not tried others yet. We tested this one and it works 100%.

Now, close Documents 6 and go to Safari where we need to go to YouTube. Find the video you want to download to your iOS device and copy the URL. You can do this by holding your finger on the address bar until the Copy option appears. Once you have it copied, go back to Documents 6, paste it into the “box” and click the Download button.

Wait for the browser to display the download options and select the one you like. Small reminder: the higher the video resolution, the more space you occupy on the iPhone or iPad. By choosing quality, a menu from which you can rename the video and choose your location within Documents 6 will appear.

Click the Save button and wait for that video to download on your iPhone or iPad. You just have one last step from here.

Moving Your Video from Documents 6 to iOS 10 photos folder.

Now that you have already downloaded your YouTube video on your iPhone or iPad, it’s time to make it available throughout the device. For the moment, the file is confined to the options offered by Documents 6. Maybe it’s all you need because from this app you can also view the videos you get from YouTube.

If you want to edit it, send it by email or message or simply save it to your photos, this is what you have to do. In Documents 6, go to the Downloads folder. That should be the video you just downloaded.

The video is saved in Documents 6, but you can move it or send it by message or email later.

Click the three dots (…) next to the file and select the Move option. Then you will see different options for moving the video. Select Documents> All Photos and click the blue button on the bottom.

From this point, the file will no longer be in the folder Downloads in Documents 6, instead, it will appear in your photos folder on your iOS device. And you’re done! Finally, you know how to download a video from YouTube on your iPhone.  All this without having to jailbreak your device.
