So the MacBook Air, what do you think of it as a portable laptop, yes a portable laptop, don't compare it to a laptop with bigger HDD, a better graphics card etc...

    My Opinions:
I really like the looks of it, I'm a real sucker for thin products, especially if they are made by Apple. If I was comparing this laptop, I would compare it with a Eee PC. I really want one though, but hopefully they might have some upgrades in specs and maybe a price cut.

Just give some opinions on it and state why

i like it, i would use it,

but.... for that price i could see myself buying a more powerful notebook and not have the "thinnest notebbok in the world" and have a ultra POWERFUL notebook (with a disk drive)

    lol

Yeah, I guess that's true, but I wouldn't see myself carrying a MacBook Pro everywhere I go, it's a bit too heavy for something to carry everywhere you go

    One sexy motherf***er.

Kinda too expensive for what it offers, except simplicity and sexy-ness. Booyah.

Looks great!! Functionality and specs not so much.....

No optical drive = No watching DVDs/copying or burning a copy of a friends CD. Fix= buy there external optical drive "that only works with the air"

No Ethernet connectivity = WiFi is a must everywhere you go. Fix= Buy a USB adapter.

Small HD = Not a lot of storage for movies and work stuff to keep you occupied on those long business trips. Fix= Buy an external drive.

Add all that to the price of the air. Plus the incontinence of carrying all that extra stuff around +weight and its more practical to buy a macbook pro.

    Well here's what I think.
No optical drive: Well I dont actually use my DVD drive on my mac a lot, I tend to download movies and music.

    WiFi All the way!

Small HD: Hopefully new storage capacities soon

Also, the pro is just so much wider. I'm used to my MacBook and when comparing it to the Pro, it's a lot bigger

On topic: The air is crap. It's all looks, and no features...

The MacBook Air, like a Netbook, is meant for, the Net.

You wanna watch a movie? Hulu. Fantcast. Other sites that stream movies.

Word Processing, Email, stuff like that. That is what the MacBook Air is designed to do.

Its not a hardcore heavy duty computer. Its a light, portable work station.
