This is a discussion thread for the "Your iPad's Clock App is Now Worth $21 Million" story posted on the front page.
Stealing can have a hefty price tag. I'm sure Apple is more than willing to comply considering how it's claiming that a bunch of other companies are "stealing" their ideas, especially when it's so blatantly obvious that the design was stolen. $21 million is a bit extreme, but companies will take advantage of other companies, especially when they know they will comply. Had Apple asked for permission first, I'm sure the cost would have been significantly smaller.
Yeah seen this yesterday. Apple didn't really have a choice, it was obvious they copied from that design. That may be a hefty amount of money but if they licensed the design as was said above they would of paid less.
I wouldn't say the 'clock' cost 21M. The penalty for them stealing it is what cost them. They can't just say "oh darn, you caught us. We will just change it."
