Thankfully it doesn't affect me, as I'm buying one in 2013.

I'm surprised they are selling that well considering the price.

Well, it is a revolutionary device. I'm sure there are those upgrading from old MBP 2008 models. I'm also sure there are those who are buying it just because it's the latest, greatest, and best.

Once you think about it, the initial investment of a Mac is quite expensive. Due to the AMAZING resale value of Macs, you'd only pay maybe $200 after selling your Mac, to buy a new one.

I'm waiting for Apple to mature this technology a little. Summer 2013 I'll be getting the retina MBP. My parents said they'll chip in a little from two savings accounts for college, but I have to make up the rest by working a job. I'm so stoked and can't wait to get it :p

Agreed. Everyone is going to look back at this a year from now when they come out with something way better and (maybe) cheaper and be like "Why did I buy this?"

Not exactly. My family bought a Mac in 2001 for $1500 resell value is about $30 now.

Well, yeah in 2 years those displays will be common and alot cheaper, same for flash ram. So that computer would only be like $1500 new in a couple years.

Tim was talking about a 3 to 4 year old Mac which is still pretty recent technology....Not an 11 to 12 year old dinosaur. ;)
Tim Nelson and samw40 like this.

    At least someone understood :)

Macs retain an incredible resale value. You can't argue. I would go as far to say PCs have great resale value. The problem is, you get what you pay for. If you buy an Alien Ware, it will maintain pretty decent re sale value. It's just the jolly and demand. I bought a bondie blue iMac for $20. It died at 14 years of age. That's an incredible life span. When it worked it was still blazing fast even with the HDD filled full.

I'm not talkin about a "dinosaur" Mac. As bondre006 said, I'm talking 4 years down the road when an update might be considered.

I hope people notice the high cost rather then the free shipping.
