******DON'T UPGRADE PEOPLE, UNLESS YOU ARE DEVELOPER******

Alright, i was the noob, found the firmware on a site, downloaded 3.0, installed. Then, my phone was locked. At this precise moment, I started to sweat.

    ((((IPHONE 3G only))))

The solution...you cannot restore with a generic 2.2.1 file through iTunes. You MUST (or at least i did this this way) use pwnage tool, make an .ipsw (simple mode), put it in DFU, then restore in iTunes using the custom firmware. It worked for me, it should work for you.

    Everyone, you're welcome.

Update again...I can not put a normal .ipsw on my iphone. I must pwn everytime.

But for iPod Tocuh 2G, you need to send the iBSS and redsn0w to restore to a custom .ipsw, but that puts you into recovery mode. Still possible to restore then?

Probably OK, you guys have a permanent pwn (2G touch needs to re-patch on every restore) so you can restore from DFU mode.

not really, all you need is an older version of iTunes and a previous version of an IPSW. Then DFU, restore.

Must be the older version of itunes because this does not work with the new version and pwnage tool!

it worked the first time i did it, but I got it to a 2.2.1 pwned firmware. When i tried to go to a normal 2.2.1, it didn't work, and now nothing works anymore. I can't get pwned 2.2.1 on it to work.

I'm trying it on a PPC machine with iTunes 8 with normal firmware and then pwnage firmware. If that doesn't work I'm updating my UDID and calling it quicks trouble shooting.
