Why does apple keep using the scratchy stainless steel back (ipod touch and also video) don't they understand people don't like it? It would awsome if they made the new ipod touch 3g chromatic like the nanos and it would also give apple HUGE sales. I just don't understand......

the only reason i can think of is that they want to differenciate between the iphone and the touch, with the plastic back. for the colors, i think that they want to keep the nano for flashy colors.

    heres how i see it:
    shuffle-cheap and small
    classic-huge storage capabilities
    nano-cool colors
    touch-high technology

I agree with the poster, why use the cheap annoying "stainless" steel back?
The scratches are annoying! Atleast use a different metal!

I don't think it's stainless steel, but I do hate it just as much as the next guy.

im 99% sure its highly-polished, laser engraved, stainless steel, not chrome. i really dont hate mine as much because i have a bestskinsever back and i never worry about scratching mine. its been so long since i've used my ipod naked, i really dont even remember exactly how easy it is to scratch.

Just protect it with some sort of case, or better yet, InvisiShield!

So that case companies can make money and Apple can make money by having the case makers use the Apple brand name on the packing. That's how I see it. I think they should atleast make it brushed like the iPhone 1G and make the apple logo the smooth shiny part.
