    *sigh*

My Xbox 360 had been perfect up until this morning. Only last night did I play some Halo 3 with my friend and watch a few episodes of Scrubs on it, and this morning:

    2 red lights of doom!

The reason I'm saying doom instead of death is because it's not 3 lights, it's two. Which apparently means it's overheating... but here's the kicker:

My 360 is kept in a well ventilated area, hasn't been used in over 8 hours (switched off) and I rarely tax it by playing more than a few hours on it in any one go.

    Damn you Microsoft... Damn you.

It sounds like a jet plane taking off when I hit the power button...

    1) The title's funny.

    2) Check this out. It probably won't help because you said it's been off for 8 hours but it has contact information

When I was on my google-travels trying to find out what was up with my xbox, I stumbled upon that link to Microsoft support... and it confused the hell out of me!

How is my 360 overheating while switched off >.<
Anyway I've sent off to have it fixed, fortunately I'm in warranty!

It's not 3 lights, it's 2. Which isn't covered by the "we suck at making consoles but have more money than God" warranty they set up for the RROD.

Fortunately, I'm still in the 1 year warranty from Microsoft... but just to be sure, when I bought my console, I also got it extended to 3 years from them.

EDIT: Does anyone know, if when I get my new xbox, does it have another years warranty on it? Or does it just "start again" with my new console?

EDIT #2: 600th post. Party. My Pants. GO NOW!

I don't think your warranty renew or restart.

    LOL, nice one.

all xbox 360's now have a 3 year warranty from the date they were bought because mine got the RROD last week (3 lights not 2) and microsoft were gladly willing for me to send my xbox in (even though i owed them 3 months of xbox live gold payment

) so your best bet is to call the customer service might take 2 or 3 weeks but it's free and guaranteed to fix the console and basically service it at the same time.
