so is there any reason the touchmods sip voip application that runs perfectly fine when i'm home and on my own wifi wouldn't call my own phone on a friends wifi? too weak a signal? possible reasons? and just to clarify, it is supposed to work outside my hotspot yes?
    thanks guys.

yes, it should work. you can call outside your hotspot, yes, as long as your at a wifi connection area that is unprotected. make sure if there is a WEP that it is typed in correctly. make sure that the signal is not too weak (i would say make sure the wifi picture has atleast 2 blue bars..it may work on one, but for me when i use my neighbors wifi on one bar when my wifi goes out, rarely works. make sure you arent accidently changing the voip settings.

if all of that is fine, maybe you werent dialing the number right?
are you using the right area code?
    the right country code?

check out my thread [link below] and search up your contry code (press ctrl + f on windows) and type what country you are in =D

got it going on another hotspot, i think it was a combination of bad signal strength and cell reception.

Umm.. VoIP has absolutely nothing to do with cell reception.

i mean cell reception as in on the receiving end, i was in a basement calling my own phone and i think part of why the call didn't go through is that my phone wasn't receiving any calls period, not just a problem with the voip.

It might also be a frigid firewall in place.
