It locks the device in portrait mode. So if you are in landscape, tapping the button brings you into portrait and then locks.

You gotta wonder what kind of idiot programmed this feature.

Wow, you really suck. You gotta wonder what kind of idiot put you on earth.

Man, it is a portrait lock! Im sure that landscape lock will come. Just dont know when. But if you dont like it, buy an other cellphone, nobody wants you to buy an iPhone or start useless topics like that.

I see where the OP is coming from, the lock just should have been to lock it into it's current orientation, not one specifically. But I'm sure it will come soon enough. I just can't see how they couldn't have understood that...

One of the all time most ridiculous responses I've ever seen. The OP is right. The position should be locked to the orientation you're using, not what Apple has predetermined is best.

I Agree, it should be locked to your current rotation.

Come on guys.. There isn't anything that we can do. As soon as the JB is released to the mass for 4.0 I'm sure just like Multitasking you can or possibly could just edit a .plist file to make it lock in whatever position.

    That response was really unnecessary.

On topic, I agree that it should be an orientation lock in either portrait or landscape. It's really odd how they have it setup now.

Ever since the buggy NoRotation (and later the much better Rotation Inhibitor) I've been unable to use an iOS device without a rotation switch. So naturally I was psyched for a native switch, and it sucks that to me, it is mostly useless (I use landscape at least as much as I use portrait).

Here's hoping for a mod that changes it to the way Rotation Inhibitor worked in 3.x
