this might be a stupid question, but im just thinking that all us who jailbreak our ipod and think we break them (brick them) , are often (me many times) by dfu mode then restoring. dfu has saved me many times when nothing else would work. so would apple take it out so we couldnt save ourselves?
this may be stupid but just wondering

DFU = Device Firmware Upgrade. It is basically a hardwired reset tool incase the software becomes so corrupt that syncing is not possible. It is the only other way to restore the device to factory settings and since it is hardwired it is near infallible. I don't see them removing this function till a new method is developed.

How many times do we have to say this? You CANNOT, absolutely CANNOT brick an iPod touch 2G. The ONLY way you can is when you are TRYING to brick it by using the bdev command in iRecovery/rslite and messing with the NOR. STOP saying it's bricked, because it ISN'T.

some people just dont know what bricked means. any way. i think that apple is making the custom firmwares. the dev team is just a hoax. because ai bought my ipod touch so that i could jailbrake. i think that apple depends on jailbroken devices for there revenue.

yes i know you cant brick one, but it happens often that people think they brick it and often times dfu will save them from what they think is a brick. im just saying when your ipod freezes and its unresponsive, etc. dfu helps alot

You can't just take out DFU mode. It's hardwired into read-only memory.
