i have an iphone 3g 8gb. it was jailbroken. one day i was trying to turn it off but it was taking for ever so i rebooted it as it was still turning off. since then my iphone will not turn on. itunes does not recognize it. the only way tht itunes sees it is in DFU mode. and even then when i try to restore i get error 1601. i have tried different computers, cables, itunes versions, windows versions, firmware versions. nothing works...someone please help...i cannot take it to apple asweelll as i bought the phone off a guy from school. and dont no where he got it from.
    please helps guys....thanks in advance

Check your serial number; if it is still under warranty you are OK to take it to Apple regardless of how you got it.

Have you plugged it into a wall socket to try charging for a while? It might to dead and needs to be recharged.

What firmware are you trying to restore it to? I would try a factory firmware (3.0 only if you need to preserve the baseband) and see if that helps (Apple will do the exact same thing if you take it to them).
