I heard that multi-tasking isn't allowed for ipodtouch 2g,I'm guessing they did this because it's underpowered so won't OS 4.0 slow it down even a bit? And hopefully apple fixed the battery issue :s

It could be possible, but if you can multitask on a 2G with jailbreak and proswitcher or whatever other app, then I think they should enable it, and more since it's built into the firmware.

officially what apple intended is that no multitasking for any devices cept for ipt 3G and iphone 3GS, but some hackers ahve found a way to enable it for ipt 2G and iphone 3G by changing a line from false to true

^^^And I really hope that doesn't get patched up in the final release.

Yeah, I heard this too. It's actually a .plist file that is in the system.

I doubt Apple will patch the "flaw" (I wouldn't call it a flaw). Otherwise, there'll most likely be a tweak to fix this (Backgrounder anyone? It's been around since mid-late 2.0 I think).

The iPod Touch 2G can handle multitasking, but it will lag it a bit (Unless you have VM). I am using a 2G with VM and it works flawlessly

I have used multitasking without VM and it lags decently every so often, just don't run 20 apps at once, that'll slow down any system

I've used multitasking without VM and it works good as long as you have no more than 4 apps, and it depends on their memory load.

If you watch the developer conference for 4.0, they say that they intend to provide the API for developers so that apps can become dormant when you switch from them, reducing their memory footprint.

Two things, 1) 4.0 made my iPod touch 2g a LOT snappier, both in launching apps and in navigating around the springboard. and 2) What is VM? Heh.

VM = Virtual Memory, or swap file on iPhone/iPod touch.

Were you jailbroken before that? I know the jailbreak slows down your iPod a lot.
