    Does anyone notice this ?
Since upgrading to iOS 4, wireless is still active even after my iphone goes to sleep. I left it for few minutes and I ping it or SSH it... still can go through.
    This definitely drain battery.

Persistent wifi is a feature. Turn of push notifications and then turn it off when you're not using it. Turn of SSH when you're not using it.

Yes. This has been noticed before. My personal guess is that they included this so that when the iPod Touch gets face time over wifi it will be able to connect while asleep.

Well.. it makes sense for iphone 4 that support facetime. not applicable to older idevices though.

Which is why we should always turn off our WiFi when asleep, to save battery.

Of course this is something that I have persistently forgotten to do all this while, as well!

Yeah I read the news in bed each morning on my iPod and if I don't turn off wifi it connects to the school wifi and wastes the battery all day.

Just turn off Wifi all the time. turn it on when you're using it.

It's probably there if you're in the middle of downloading something and the ipod goes to sleep, it will continue to work.

Turning it off and on or using airplane mode are your only options besides downgrading.

    Touch Wireless Sleep

Did this get changed back in latest release? An inconvenience to power off each time, when used to be battery life was great when just sleep was chosen.
