so i bought my wireless router and my usb network adapter and installed em both
and two icons appear in my desk where all the lil icons are
one is like a lil monitor and says acquiring network adress, and the other icon is the usb adapter and it on status says connected
and i wasnt sure if i had set up a wireless connection or network w/e
so i called the company and they told me that yea i have a wireless connection or network w/e
but they said that its not secured
so ummm what does that mean?
and what could be like the worst thing if i dont secure it

just secure it yourself. read the manual for your router. If you don't understand it, google search a bit and there should be other instructions.

its really easy to secure your network, if it is a linksys router open your web browser and go to 192.168.1.1 it should ask you for a password, im prteey sure that the default pass is admin (leave user blank) and go to wireless security, just work your wau around until you find it, choose WPA encryption and make a passcode. when you connect to the router with your laptop it will ask for the passcode, enter it in. if you mess somptin up press and hole the lil grey button on the back for about 30 seconds, it will reset, try again.

any other router might be 192.168.1.1 or 102.168.2.1
good luck PM me if you need anymore help, i have 2 wireless routers and 1 wired so i know alot about them

its pretty easy to do all u have to do is login to ur router (look at ur routers brand website to see how, or if its linksys (sp?)) just go to routerlogin.net, the username for linksys is admin and the password is password, then just look around for a password tab and set up your WEP encryption

and i dont wanna pay someone 90$ to come and do it
if so i wont have my ipod touch for xmas =/

    I wouldnt worry about it...
    Its not real likely though...
It happens in coffee shops, ETC
    were there is no security.
