(I hope this is the right place to ask for help ^^)

Hello everyone. I'm new here and I'm also new in the "iphone/cydia/etc" world

So, I have an ipod touch 2G with 3.0 firmware.
I got it a few days ago. I already jailbroke it.
This was when my problems began:

1st - I don't have wifi right now, so i'm using cyder and iphonebrowser
2nd - I installed winterboard (using cyder) Is the version and everything ok?
3rd - I also got a few themes and the weather widget. However they don't work. I press them, a little loading comes, black screen, lock screen and the all i get is the default theme. i tried rebooting several times. I also tried reinstalling winterboard.

Now, to install themes i tried many ways: Using cyder, SSH (with iphonebrowser) and i also tried to switch the wallpapers in library/themes but it didn't work either.

My last problem is when i try to remove an app from cydia. As you can see in the winterboard ss i took it says package queue Remove. If i try to remove just winterboard it takes all my apps from cydia, themes, etc

I hope my post ins't confusing

Well, your post is confusing. I'm not gonna lie.
First things first, have you completely read this?

Not this specific guide but yes.
I did all those steps except for the respring, which i don't know what is.

When you make any change in Winterboard, "checkmark" or move up or down, and when you close WinterBoard, you see the pale white "spinning wheel" and then it's "like" the iPod Touch "reboots".

    It is restarting the Springboard.

SBSettings, found in Cydia, also offers to Respring.

If you use the Power on-off button, it stays off, until you start it again using the Home button and unlocking the Lockscreen.

If you hold-in the Power on-off button, you have to hold in the Power button to get it to boot-up again.

There are some items downloaded that do not show up in WinterBoard, only showing up in SBSettings, by selecting More. In that case, I select the "toggles" as applicable, as well.

I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Is rebooting the same as respring? if i turn my ipod off and on does it have the same effect as respring?

I did a "spinning wheel" and after that i went to the springboard and nothing changed.

Am i doing something wrong? should i try to reinstall winterboard and get SBSettings then respring?

Also, about that remove problem i asked in my 1st post. what can i do about it?

I don't think they are the same.

The re-spring can take a log time to start and to run. The time involved seems to be related to the size of the install.

After the display if dark, hold the iPod Touch on it's side: the screen has a dark blue glow, and then, dark again, and then, the Lockscreen appears briefly.

If you did not unlock the Lockscreen, if you were not quick enough, you can use the Home button to get the Lockscreen, and unlock the Lockscreen.

I have not had that problem, about removing anything, using Cydia.

Are you in Manage > Packages.

Manage is a selection along the bottom of the screen in Cydia.

There are some packages of UI Images, for example, that have a lot of selections, each one appearing in WinterBoard. Is that what uninstalls?

I did notice, when I first jailbroke, the device seemed unstable.

I cycled thru On and Off a few times. It seemed to help.

I had never changed the permissions, and that may be a problem.

I don't know, but the Cyder comments in the forum look like it is pre-version 3.0

I have relied on Cydia to write to my device.

I have, however, installed themes using i-FunBox (for PC) free software. It has folders view. I like it.

There is iFunBox (for MAC) as well.

    Well, I'm doing everything again.

Starting with SBsettings, then the rest.
Then I'll try the i-FunBox to install a theme.

    --------------------

I can't open SB settings. It shows up in cydia but i can't open it

It installs "in" the top bar: swipe side-to-side. It drops down.

There are different "skins" for it. I use the Glasklart SB Settings one.

SB Setting will not appear in WinterBoard. It isn't the same as a "theme".

In WinterBoard, it is necessary to put a checkmark next to "themes" and move it up nearer the top of the list.

Try Cydia, for an easy "theme".

How about No Page Dots. Signal bars for iPod Touch. DockFlow iPod Forevermac and MMP Flip for 3.0.

Then try a more complete theme: Simple and Clean. Tenuis. PowerSurge Pro.

Then, look around the forum for more themes perhaps. Look for Lockscreens and "customizations" of Lockscreens, Wallpaper, and MakeItMine.

    I tried that. Doesn't work :/

Here - It shows up in side but i can't open it

I will try, as soon as i can get winterboard to work.

Is it possible to install winterboard and SBsettings with cyder? Maybe those have to be installed from cydia itself. no ?

    I haven't used Cyder.

I saw that thread, here, was older than version 3.0

For that reason, I did not try it.

Did you try to swipe your finger along the top bar on the "home page" of iPod Touch?

It will work on any page that has the same top bar.
