well, when you connect your ipod to an internet connection (wifi router or hotspot) it gets assigned an IP address (It's basically a temporary digital nickname for your device)

Anyway, most hotspots have built in firewalls that prevent users from seeing other users. If you're using a router though (one that has wifi, like a Linksys or D-Link) then you shouldn't be having any issues.

So that router that your ipod connects to, your computer also needs to connect to. It doesn't need to be wireless from computer to router, but it does need to be wireless from router to ipod.

Maybe you can give us more info about your setup?

How do you connect to the internet with your PC? your iPod? brand names help, but let us know and we'll do what we can

same network normally has the same starting numbers like 192.168.0.xxx with xxx varying between the pc running winscp amd the ipod's number.

also make sure to disable any firewalls (temporary) and to set the ipod to "never" under setting for autolock.
