    make sure...

    ip address is correct
    username: root
    password: alpine
    port: 22

you have OpenSSH instaled on the iPod through installer.

oh, and search before you post

Did you recently upgrade top 1.1.2? Some people's networks have been assigning their iPods new ip addresses after the update. You might want to doublecheck. Also, while running the JailBreaker, did you check the box to enable SSH?

I have also seen several people have this problem and it was their WiFi signal strength or router settings.

They went to a different location and got a WiFi hotspot and then it worked the first time.

What scenario are you coming from? Did you just restore back to virgin 1.1.1? I experienced the same thing. No ssh access, other wireless jailbreak methods not working. Solution: I followed ipodtouchmaster's youtube video ---> http://youtube.com/watch?v=K2-Zi-6HpFI

sometimes goin on safari before you try to connect will work. I have connected to my ipod through winscp and then walked away from it for like 20 minutes and tried to reconnect and it wouldnt work. I just load up a random website in safari and try to reconnect and then winscp connects. And also if for some reason your using your pc usb connection to charge your ipot obviousely kill all processes with apple or ipod in the name.
