[WINDOWS] - Verbose boot iPod Touch 2G tutorial - No Restore! THIS IS NOT A MAC VS PC THREAD. PLEASE BRING YOUR ARGUMENTS TO ANOTHER THREAD Right-Click and click "View Image" for a bigger image. This is for 2G iPod touches running 3.0 (or 3.0.1) only! Do not attempt it with other hardware or software, and do not ask me how! I don't know! Step 1 - Make sure you have the current version of redsn0w, 0.8 Step 2 - Get your unmodified, legal 3.0 ipsw from (Application Data folder, varies between Windows version)/Roaming(if you have vista or 7)/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/ It should be called "iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw", copy, not cut and paste it on your desktop Please Register or Log in to view imagesPlease Register or Log in to view images Step 3 - Fire up redsn0w (remember to put in compatibility mode and run as admin, vista/7 users) Please Register or Log in to view images Step 4 - Point redsn0w towards your not yet patched 3.0 ipsw on your desktop, and wait for it to verify it. WAIT! Do not click next! Keep redsn0w open and having identified the ipsw during the following steps, do not close it, and do not click next until I have told you to do so. Please Register or Log in to view images Step 5 - Download H4CK!NT0SH's verbose iBoot here Some people have said that their file is "iBootn72apRELEASE.img3" instead of "iBoot.n72ap.RELEASE.img3" Simply rename it and you'll be fine. Step 6 - With redsn0w having already identified it, change the extension of your 3.0 ipsw to .zip (not required if you are using 7-zip), click yes, and open it up. Please Register or Log in to view images Step 7 - Overwriting the original, stick the verbose iBoot file you just downloaded in (3.0 ipsw)/Firmware/all_flash/all_flash.n72ap.production/ Please Register or Log in to view images Step 8 -Now change the extension from zip back to ipsw Step 9 -Go back to redsn0w, and continue jailbreaking your iPod as normal. You're done! Wait for redsn0w to finish it's business, and now you have glorious verbose boot! As with the mac version, this overwrites recovery mode. If you screwed something up and need to restore, you must use DFU or it will not work!
