Do you HAVE to restore your iPod first? And which is better installer or cydia? Putting both takes up too much space

Updated my iPhone to 2.2 last night.

As usual not one problem was encountered. As a matter of fact, I have never had any issues with Quickpwn. I really can't understand all the problems some folks are experiencing such as hangups, the need to switch computers, USB ports, etc.

Pwning is not rocket science ;)

You don't have to restore your iPod first. And in my opinion I would say Cydia, and many agree with that. Cydia seems to be the better choice for Firmware 2.x while Installer ruled the days of 1.1.x firmwares.

Yeah, you'll loose your applications and other things you've gotten through jailbreak and Cydia/Installer one you update to Firmware 2.2 in iTunes. And for restoring, you don't have to. Just click the update button in iTunes, and let it upgrade normally to Firmware 2.2. Next, run QuickPwn and follow the steps and you'll be jailbroken!

    You are both welcome!

Ok thanks. So when I jailbreak, will I lose music and what not?

Great guide! Though one thing to anybody trying this from 2.1, it seems to duplicate any community apps you have installed (at least it did that for me). Easy to fix, just find out which folder is the recent one, and delete the old one with MobileFinder (or WinSCP, etc). Works like a charm!
