Here's my problem [I suspect there are others who have the same problem]:
I'm on Windows XP SP2 using QuickPwn for FW 2.2. I download it off one of the "unofficial mirrors" because I don't have torrent reading software. I connect my 1st Gen iPod Touch and everything seems to be working fine. I click through the QuickPwn stuff and get to the part where you have to hold the home button, then the power button, then the home button again, and all that, but then I hit a barrier. QuickPwn says that it's "uploading exploit bootloader" but it stays there forever. I left my iPod at that screen for 3 hours and it never got passed it. So I took my iPod out, rebooted it in recovery mode, and things worked fine, but I wasn't jailbroken. To check, I went into Settings > General > About and there it said: "Version - 2.2 (5G77)". Doesn't this mean that it's jailbroken? Then where's Installer/Cydia?

Does anybody have a working version of QuickPwn 2.2 I could use or a solution to this problem?

I have all the same stats as you, except everything worked for me. I used the first mirror link, saved it, unzipped it, and ran it. Did you unzip it? or just double click and run?

restore in iTunes and try again.

if you hold down the home and sleep buttons till the device switches off then follow the usual DFU mode thing to bung it into recover to restore

Even after restoring, my firmware still reads "2.2 (5G77)" is this normal or does that means it's supposed to be jailbroken?

That's normal Lukinator. That's just the build number (5G77).

Ok thanks. I still don't know why my iPod won't jailbreak though. Would downgrading to 2.1.1, pwning, then upgrading back to 2.2 work better?

That wouldn't help. Your problem is a common one that many people have had, but I'm not sure of a fix for it. I really wish I did know a fix to solve this problem because so many people have it.
