Hi, I'm new here, but I am having trouble JBing. I have a 1st gen 16GB touch, when I was running 1.1.4 I jailbroke my touch, and am currently running Apple 2.2. I decided to jailbreak using this method, but I'm having trouble.

Firstly, I opened the .exe file from the .zip, without a problem. It looks like everything is going fine. It finishes, says it is completed, but my touch itself won't boot up. It gets frozen on the apple (or pineapple) screen everytime. It just keeps getting stuck on that screen and then trying to boot up over and over again (every 5 minutes probably). I tried enabling the things mentioned a few pages back (it was a link to another post) but that didn't do anything differently. What can I do?

I am running Vista Home Premium.

EDIT: solved itself. Tried to jailbreak 2 more times, nothing happened, still the same problem, so i booted up itunes to do a restore, and boom my touch comes alive and it is installed. Thanks for the installer.

I just decided to jailbreak 2.2, and I've been sitting here reading "uploading exploit bootloader" for what has felt like ages, how long is it supposed to take?

I've gotten this error about 20 times now (not an exaggeration), I've restart my computer, my iPod, I've restored, I've switched USB ports, I've tried everything, so I got two questions:

Is it possible that the DFU mode on my iPod is broken?

If I set up my iPod as a new iPod would it be possible for me to get my contacts and etc. back?

For ANY REASON AT ALL will I be able to restore? I've read somethings about people being stuck in recovery mode, stuck on the boot logo, and other crazy issues. Will I be able to simply restore through itunes to solve the problems? I really dont have time for a bunch of crap. And is cydia or installer best for themes?

    Yeah, you can always restore.

Don't use either for themes, download them from MacThemes.com and manually install them.

Can anyone help me out? Should I just set up my iPod as a new iPod and try again?

DFU Mode will always work. You can't have an iPod touch with a "broken" DFU Mode.

AWESOME!!! i had always been very timid about jailbreaking my ipod. it was SO easy... as long as you follow the steps AS THE PROCEED, so be ready when you start. have your fingers on the home and power buttons, ready to push when you start.
