Could I use the Windows Installer CD that came with my old windows xp laptop on my current macbook with BootCamp? Or do I have to go track down Vista or XP?

    its a hit or miss
    some companies(hp from personal experience)
recognize the computer it ws designed for and only work on that to limit piracy

But! If it is a oem edition you have to get a new disc! If it is instaled on your current laptop you can't install it on your laptop! It can only be installed on one PC!

I recommend buying vista home basic or premium.

I can explain more later if you like, I'm currently on my touch

My XP recovery CD that came with my Compaq laptop worked on TONS of different computers (dells, gateways, homebuilts, etc) and never failed to install (sometimes didn't activate, but keys only work with up to 5 anyway)
