I've had this same problem many times. Make certain you have 1.1.1 then jailbreak then oktoprep then update 1.1.2. I wasted hours because I forgot single steps during my many many jailbreaks. Next make sure iTunes is closed and all the itunes and ipod related programs are closed in task manager. If this all fails try a reboot. Sometimes I just kept at it a dozen times and eventually it'll work. Last thing I can think of is, for some reason, something like tempxxx.exe tries to communicate out during this??? Make sure your firewall isn't preventing it from doing so. Good luck.

Same problem I had, you need to install Java.
