I have bought an iPod Touch 3 hours ago. I love the player, but do I have to put up with the horrible iTunes software?

Its just designed to get me to buy stuff from their store, which I am never going to do because I buy CDs and Vinyls and rip my MP3 collection all comes from those. The sync and playlist system is so limited its stupid and I already tag all my music myself too.

All I need is something that would map a drive I can drag music into and delete it just as if it was removable storage.

    Please tell me this exists!

I really like the iPod Touch but the software is already causing an anti-climax after I shouldnt get 3 hours after buying a new gadget

Although there is no alternative to iTunes for the iPod, there are other music managers that can organize your music, then you can go into iTunes and sync.

Or you can manually download your music, using iSlsk

ok for one thing, You have to use iTunes to sync.
But you can download music anyother way and import it into iTunes.
From What you said u rip music from vinyls and cds, Well iTunes has a darn good cd ripper. And im pretty sure theres software that automaticlly rips vinyls in to your iTunes.

    Hope this Helps.

if your iPod is jailbroken then in the installer download iSlsk. iSlsK is a p2p client such as limewire or emule. This allows you to download straight to iPod touch. Only draw back is wifi obviously required and there is no album art work.

There are alternatives to iTunes, I don't know why people here think otherwise.

Although I find iTunes to be the easiest to use with my touch, the top other two programs that I know off the top of my head are:

Windows Media Player, with the iPod plugins.
    Winamp, with the iPod plugins.
Both of these are free and can be found easily off the internet.

    Good luck.

Playlist system is limited? I thought the playlists were one of the better things about Itunes
