I have no DVD drive showing up in My Computer. i used to see it there but oneday it was gone. i think that i had a virus once but i got rid of it. viruses have been know to disable CD drives. i also has WIN 7 build 7000 but then i upgraded to 7100 the RC. i dont know if it disappeared then or some other time but its gone now. yes it is installed and works but i have to boot in XP to use it. XP will recognize it but 7 wont.

    You could try reinstalling it.

    Or

Go to the manufacturers website for 'proper' drivers.

Your CD drive is a Lite-on iHas120. Did you build your computer or did you buy it from somewhere? I would try to upgrade the firmware and see if that fixes it.

windows 7 still does not support a LOT of xp drivers and since it's not officially out for retail yet many hardware drivers aren't supported. if you have a copy available to you, maybe try installing vista and making sure the drive is supported. Then upgrade to 7. The Vista drivers should carry over.

but it did work at one time i swear. something happened to the drivers to corrupt then i think. i cant replace the ones in system32 cuz you cant delete anything in that folder even if you are the admin.
