    What sets windows 7 apart from vista? Dtails would be appreciated.

    No windows haters.

    Less RAM usage
    Better taskbar
    Better search and indexing
    New aero features (aero shake, aero snap, etc)

    Mainly UI tweaks and tweaks that semi-improve performance.

    Windows 7's speed is roughly equivalent to that of a tweaked fresh Vista install, maybe a little faster. From what I understand, boot times are a giant improvement, along with major UAC improvements that make UAC highly useful but not intrusive.

    Oh, and it's awesome.

    So basically, the only reason why Windows 7 is good or is perceived to be good is because of the bad press built up from Vista.

    That, my friend, is where you are wrong. Vista used to idle at around 800MB of RAM, on a clean install + startup. 7 currently uses 650MB average, with both DestroyTwitter and Firefox open. You cannot actually tell me that 7 is bad.
