winamp support

    i searched both this site and wimamps and didnt find what i was looking for.

    does winamp support the touch 2g with ether 2.2.1 or 3.0 firmware

    In the days of the nano you can used "disc mode" to manage your music with winamp. With itouch I don't think so

    In short, it's not possible yet.

    In detail:

    It's doable over WiFi only with firmware 2.2.1, ml_iPod 3.08 patch 5, a shareware app called SFTPdrive (maps a directory on an SFTP connection to a network drive), and OpenSSH on the iPod, as I ran that comfortably for a while. The motherboard on my desktop is failing slowly, so the USB ports only work at low speed, making 802.11g an improvement in my case

    But even that is not possible with firmware 3.0, as it stores the data differently.
    I discovered that 3.0 uses /private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control instead of /private/var/mobile/Media/iPod_Control, but even if you create a symlink from the old name to the new directory it doesn't work right because they made even more changes to the library files.
