I've having trouble with this, I always get stuck at this error on my iPod Touch 2G 32GB 2.2.1 firmware - freshly restored in iTunes beforehand. I'm on Vista X64 SP2.

Thank you for any help with this. :)

    Passwords nad JB dont mix

I jailbroke my friends ipod using redsnow .3 and it got stuck on the boot logo. and i know its not broken and i have to restore it but he had a password on his ipod so he would have to put in his password before he itunes could connect to it but we cant put in the password because it is stuck in bootlogo. if i put it into dfu mode and restore itunes says it cannot find the software for the ipod and to update itunes but itunes is already in 8.2, is there a way to bypass the password so i can restore it?

i wanna try this out but i want to back up my itouch first but every time it says "could not backup because ipod disconected" or something and i did some googling and i guess its because i jail broke with quickpwn sooooo my question is how can i restore my apps and stuff another way

i think u gotta force restore it... not sure if theres another way u put it in recovery mode i think its u hold power and home butten then it will have the plug and the itunes picture and when u connect it u can restore it but then u gotta do the jailbreak over and he will lose his stuff but he can resync it

No it doesn't. It currently only works with 2.2.1.

Alright. So I jailbroked my Itouch back in Jan. when the tethered came out. Now that an untethered has been released, I want to switch over. Questions.

Should I restore to factory, restore from a backup and then jailbreak?

Or should I restore to factory, jailbreak, and then restore from a backup.

Thanks everyone for your input in this blog. I really researched this jailbreaking stuff and this is by far the easiest and efficient. Safe, reliable, easy. Awesome.
