BetaMAX is the future! lol... just kidding...
I have no idea, but by the time we all use WiMax the Touch will probably be obsolete xD and we'll have to buy the 2nd Gen Touch

hopefully. Evertime i read businessweek or popular science they talk about WiMax. I hope it doesnt come out too soon if the ipod isnt compatible. WiMax is gonna be amazing!! imagine, entire cities like manhattan that are covered by wireless down to the last square inch.

what you are saying is that wimax acts as the backhaul. Our iPod t can connect via wifi as the last mile.

Right now WiMax is being used as a last-mile technology to reach areas that do not have a fiber infrastructure. I can see it becoming a much broader technology in several years time though, being that it will be able to cover large areas with high speed wireless Internet.

However, the Touch only supports 802.11b/g, and I doubt we'll see any dongles for them until Wimax becomes more popular in larger cities.

mindfield is right - current wimax is only 802.16d (fixed wimax).

The mobile wimax (802.16e) is nowhere to be seen except in Korea.
