hi guys, i have bought the 3.0 firmware update for Ipod Touch 2G.

Now if i am to use Itunes 8.2 to upgrade to 3.0 from 2.2.1 jailbroken and then use redsnow to jailbreak 3.0 will i lose any of my data?

is this recommended? or will cydia be messed up due to apps already installed?

i just do not want to lose my apps.

if not what is the best way to do this.

I would recommend restoring and not updating. Updating can cause problems after you update and or re-jailbreak. If you restore yes you will lose your data.

You can try to look for a program that will backup your app data.

Do not use aptbackup. Saurik twittered that this has cause problems with the telesphoreo repo switching to the 2.x.x version instead of 3.x. basically meaning you get outdated software which doesn't work (well)

that is exactly what i did and i had no problems at all. i also had to do it on 3 ipod touches. all three worked with no problems. the only thing that i lost was my jailbreak apps. but all of my music and app store apps were fine.
