I have me a little predicament here: I'll try to sum it for you guys. I have two old PATA hard drives. I bought an adapter and am using one while the other does nothing, but that's not working out too well, mostly because I would like to use the other hard drive. Anyways, the adapter I have now plugs in directly to the back of the hard drive, and it's a little squished so I had to modify(trim) the outgoing SATA cable, and I don't think that has too much life left in it.

I also have a ribbon for them (below picture)[IMG]

Apparently there's some confusion about how this works: I can plug a hard drive into the white and into the black spots on the riboon, then the blue goes into the port/adapter/motherboard.
    damn that's a big picture.
Anyways, I was thinking of getting a PCI-E to PATA adapter instead, so I could that ribbon, avoid my cable trimming, and use both hard drives. So here's the question: will this adapter (which claims to only be able to support one PATA hard drive) be able to function with both? I am confused as to whether they mean that there is one PATA port or support for only one PATA drive.
If it won't work, is there a different adapter you guys can point me to that will? Thanks

There is only one PATA port, so only one hard drive will be able to use it.

If you would look at the picture of the ribbon, you would see that I can plug TWO hard drives into it(white, black), then plug them into the port(blue connector). I updated the OP with a little explanation.

you should be able to hook up two drives one as a master and one as a slave.
