They broke the site "jailbreakme.com" which was used to jailbreak devices running firmware 3.1.2 to 4.0.1

It used PDF technology to make it so in the new update, Apple made it so you cannot "slide to jailbreak" anymore.

They patched an exploit in the PDF use through Safari, the jailbreak used buffer overflow to make the root filesystem available. You can still put PDF's on the iPod as always, but the single exploit that allowed buffer overflow was patched.

As always, developers will find a new way to jailbreak, probably not through MobileSafari, and as always, it is not illegal. However Apple is allowed to upgrade the firmware on their devices to patch exploits whether they be specifically used for jailbreaking or otherwise.

The dev-team/comex/anyone will most likely skip 4.0.2 and get right to 4.1 when it is released. Just my idea.
