Will jailbroken users still have to pay for 3.0 firmware?

    This has already been brought up. Not sure where, I'll look for the post in a minute. Technically not many people "have to" pay. However, that way is wrong and not welcome on this forum.

    Jailbreaking works by downloading files that modify the official ipsw that you download from Apple. If it were to download the ipsw, modified or not, it'd break the contract you agree to by owning an iPod, thus making it illegal.

    You misread the question. OP asked if he will have to pay. Meikura responded with yes. No would mean that the OP could get it for free.

    Therefore i can get it for free. if thats illegal, why do all guides on here refer to downloading/using the ipsw?
    Plus, are you sure breaking the contract (or voiding any warranty for that matter) is strictly illegal? Doesnt it just void the terms of agreement? (not that they can check)
