Hi, I'm new here and I decided to ask for help here because I've been searching the forums and reading posts about similar problems.
I bought a used Ipod Touch 2g off of Ebay for $60 and it had a cracked digitizer and a bad battery, I replaced both and it worked fine. Then all of a sudden, the LCD wouldn't turn on. I thought the new battery had shorted out the iPod but if I plug it into iTunes, it gets recognized and it charges. But no LCD. I tried restoring it as per the instructions on these forums and no luck. I can get into DFU mode, I can Shift+Click restore and select FW 2.2.1 from my hard drive and it says it restores but still no image on my ipod. My question is, will JailBreaking it fix the Black Screen of Death (If that is infact what is wrong with my ipod)?

Problem is: You're using 2.x.x FW, not 3.x.x FW.

Restore to 3.1.3. Just buy it and get over the price. It'll save you a load of hassle.

Just upgrade and then you can, if you want, jailbreak with Spirit.
