Will jailbreaking ever become illegal? I was thinking that I paid over $200 and they make illegal to add an app(Cydia) to YOUR paid firmware(3.0).

If I were to bet money on an outcome, I would say jailbreaking will remain legal. (I have faith in the EFF).

You don't own the Firmware you pay for! You own a LICENSE to use it!

That doesn't make any sense. I paid 9.95 for the firmware and its not even mine!?

Did you make it? Did you contribute code that goes into the final product? Did you do anything at all that contributed to that firmware being made? If so, are you credited anywhere? If not. No. You don't own it.

Like most software out there, YOU DON'T OWN IT! You own a LICENSE to use it. You pay for a license. Not the software/firmware.

Windows, Mac OS X, Photoshop, even FREE Software. License.

Same with all of the music you bought! If iTunes were to go out of buisness (not likely) or was closed, you wouldn't be legally able to have that music on an iPod or computer!

Teslanaut is right. You purchases licenses for software. You do still own your hardware, though! (for now

So with that in mind would it be possible to write your own firmware for the iPod touch?
