Will I notice any huge performance increase with a 2G over my 1G?

Particularly with things like Categories and running Emulators. Is there a real performance increase, or not really enough to justify getting a 2G? If not, I'll just hold off until the next version of the Touch is released, or until something goes wrong with my 1G.

    I'd appreciate any info!

If I were you I would wait til the next version of the iPod Touch is released. If I were to get a 1g right before the 2g released I would be really bummed that I was impatient.

I used my friend's 1g a few times and I didn't notice any major differences in reguards to performance (eg. it doesn't load faster). At least, that was my experience with it.

yeah.. it's a huge difference when running themes. On my 1G, with a theme it lags very much when I'm browsing the home screen. On the 2g it's as smooth as without a theme. The 1G has a 400mhz and the 2G a 532mhz. So you can see the difference.

Ok then 2g may be faster than 1g, but 3g might be faster than both (that is, if there is going to be a new 3g iPod Touch device... is there?).

If there is, I'd say wait... While you wait you can eat read books and play outside! Sounds like fun!
