Your iPod is jailbroken correct? Also, what is the last think you remember installing before this happened? This could be the problem.

I've got this same problem. I have a 1g iPod, blackra1ned on 3.1.2. I was opening the facebook app and it opened but the screened blanked to my spring board image, but kept the statusbar up as if I was in the app. This has happened before and I usually just reboot with SBsettings, I tried that but then when it went back to the apple it stayed there for like 5 seconds and then went blank. I don't mind restoring, but is there anyway I can get my information off of it?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know why, but my brothers did that along with malfunctioning when I switched his iPod from my Linux laptop to his Windows laptop. He fixed it by letting sit for a while and trying to turn it on a lot to drain battery.

Is this similar to my problem?

If so, it seems there are quite a few people it's affecting. Is there anyone with extensive knowledge of iRecovery or similar applications who knows if there is a solution?

irecovery can sometimes work, but if it doesn't you can just download the program ifunbox which makes it uber easy to ssh into your ipod... this means you can just click and drag all of the music and videos you would lose onto your computer desktop and then put them back on after you restore

I tried ifunbox, but it won't even recognize my iPod...

If I were to connect my iPod to my computer and re-run blackra1n, could this fix the problem? I'm really just picking at straws here, I don't want to lose my data.
