My parents won't let me get a DS, they say that the screen will damage my vision. What do you think?

Are there any sites that prove the DS won't hurt the eyes?

Focusing your vision on any bright screens for long periods will obviously hurt your eyes.
The DS also eatz yo' brainz.

Try the other way around. Ask your parents to find a site that says it will hurt your eyes. I doubt they'll find done.

if you play it in the dark with the screen too bright its bad for your eyes, but that is a BS excuse for not letting you get one

but of course, id rather have a psp

and if they already let you have a ipod touch why not a ds

If they think that a DS could hurt your eyes , why do they let you have an iPod touch/iPhone whatever and create this thread on a computer which also has a screen.
Sounds like massive sh*t from a bull if you ask me.

Your parents probably just don't want to buy you a DS and the new games for it.

My parents tried to do the same thing, but this is how I explained it to them:

While yes, without playing the DS it would seem that it is a very small screen and that focusing on it would be a strain to the eyes. However, the DS (much like the iPod or any other electronic device with a screen) makes use of the fact that it tricks the eye into thinking that it is a larger screen by being closer to your face. If you think about it, if you compare your perception of the size of a TV from a couple feet away, to the iPod a foot away from your face, they seem to be the same size since the iPod is closer.

Let me know if you need me to clarify.
