My situation is that iTunes recognizes my iPod, after getting through the Mobile Device issues, but I cannot restore. (Keep getting different error numbers each time) If I use DiskAid or iPhoneBrowser/SSH and delete everything from the iPod, will I be able to restore it, or will it permanently be gone?

You can't brick an iPod without physical abuse, because you can't delete the Boot ROM (Read-Only Memory), where the DFU OS is stored.

sudo rm -rf / or anything of the sort will do absolutely nothing to your iPod permanently.

Okay. But, I am not able to restore because of the errors. Will doing "rm -rf" make it restorable?

No, sudo rm -rf / is deleting all the files. It won't necessarily make it restorable.

Edit: You just need to get into DFU to restore from your current condition.

You can't even restore by going into DFU mode??

    Lemme try DFU.

Didn't work. It's really freaking annoying. It's really retarded because it's impossible to restore now. I wonder if wiping it from within the iPod will work.

are you trying to upgrade to 2.1 or just restore 2.0? if your upgrading check the frimware is 5F137 not 5F138 (138 is for the 2nd gen touch)

I'm trying to restore my legit 2.1 firmware due to an iTunes connection problem. (I swear it's not my USB) I'm getting rid of the Jailbreak for a while.

Try a regular restore on another PC - I'm going to have to say your USB drivers aren't installed right if it can't see it in Recovery or DFU mode.

I've tried all USB ports. The two front ones, and the two back ones.
