This is a discussion thread for the "Will Apple's Executive Shakeup Make iOS Fresh Again?" story posted on the front page.
Federighi is from the OS X side of things, where features and changes (whether noticeable to the user, or under-the-hood) are now common place every year. So yes, there will be some pretty significant changes. I also wouldn't be surprised if various apps see a complete redesign over the next year, with Ive being in favor of more industrial designs in both hardware and software.
Double post I hope there will be significant changes and I don't think these changes should only begin with iOS 7, Apple should give us a taster ASAP.
As wonderful as it would be I seriously doubt it. The news where I am is reporting that the guy was fired over the maps and unpopular store issues, not iOS design and features.
They should bring back Google Maps or accept Google's into the App Store and allow UI customization/widgets. After 5 years is it too much to ask?
If there is ever going to be a UI change, (IF there is ever) I would definitely want a login system. You boot up the iDevice, touch your account, type in password (or not if it's public/shared), kind of like windows has. I could see this more likely on the iPad/iPad Mini.
