I have about a 650 song library and I add music to it pretty often and I was hoping to jailbreak it and customize it with games and everything. I heard the true size of the 8gb iPod Touch is 7.5gb so I'm pretty sure that this will fit everything with extra room but I also wanted to add about 2 movies which happens to be 2hrs or 2 1/2hrs (I heard movies that long take about 1 or 2gbs?) So i was wondering if an 8gb will be enough for what I'm going to use it for PLUS future growth. I Would save up for a 16gb but I'm to impatient, but if I have to I guess I will

I also did search just to get that out of the way.

Will you listen to 650 songs a day?
Just make playlists and switch them to your liking every now and then
    Then 8gig should be enough

Yes, I believe the 8gb would suit you just fine.

Lol I doubt it. So I'm thinking a smart playlist would be a good idea?

Some people say the prices will go down and some people say it won't =\
I would wait but there are some REALLY good prices on eBay and Amazon for the 8gb due to the back to school promotion. I havn't noticed a 16gb with a good price yet

I have over 780 songs on my current iPod Nano and im getting the iPod Touch 8GB soon.. You need to ask yourself, do you really need all of those songs on there?

Maybe its just me, but I dont like to get fed up of songs so now and again ill remove some tracks from my ipod with a playcount less then 1 or just songs I normally skip.. then when I start to like them again, ill re-add. I reckon when I get my touch, Ill only have around 300-400 songs on there.

Well, I've been doing cleanup and i've deleted about a good 100 songs. So i'm sure 8gb will be enough

yep, thats so true. one of the reasons why im not even tempted to buy an iPod Classic.. I mean who needs 160GB. one thing that does frustrate me about having loads of songs on an ipod is that when its in my pocket and im skipping using the forward button and I want it to play a particular song or artist, it goes through song after song after song and its very rare that I actually get to the one I want!

It depends on what quality the movie is. You can get movies quite small if you drop down the quality. I personally would recommend a 16GB or 32GB if you are thinking about movies though. I have a 32GB and it isn't full yet but it is getting there.
