I'm thinking about upgrading my jailbroken 1.1.4 iPod Touch, but I'm hesitant about losing some of my apps. I was just wondering if there are replacements for these, through the App Store or Cydia, on 2.0.

    1) Wikipedia. I downloaded the 2GB dump and an app that allowed me to use it, then added it to my iPod using SSH. This is SO useful, so I really want to know if there's a replacement.

    2) eBooks. I know there are a few eBook readers out there, but all the books are ones where the copyright has expired. My current eBooks are from some1guy's repo, and I want to know if there are similar options on Cydia for recently released books.

    3) MxTube. This one is really useful as well, I want to be sure I can use it on 2.0.

If you can help me with any of these I'd be really grateful. I want to upgrade, but I don't really know what the jailbreaking community is like at this stage. Thanks in advance.

The dump and the application are here: http://collison.ie/wikipedia-iphone/. The dump is almost a year old, so recent additions will not show up, but it's still the most useful app on my iPod.

    Device:
    iPod touch
Wikipedia is available Offline you can download and index the newset dump with wiki2touch transfer tool.
And you can install a wikiserver on your ipod which loads the dump in mobile safari.

    Tut: G

    1. Install Bossprefs

    2. Connect to your iPod with SSH; USb whatever and upload this file to /var/mobile/

    3. Get Putty. (google)

    4. In Putty log in as mobile. The password is alpine

    5. Put in this commands

    ls *.deb

    su (password alpine, too)

    dpkg -i wikisrvd-bossprefs-r137-20080814-1.deb

    exit

    5. Now should Wiki2Touch work already.
But before using have you to downlaod a dump (the articles in one file)

    6. Open the TransferTool and download the Dump in your language.

    7. Chose the downloaded file in step 2 and start indexer.

    8. Upload the file via the TransferTool to the iPod in Step3

    9. If the upload is ready reboot your device

    10. Open Safari and go to http://127.0.0.1:8080/index.html

    11. Now you should see s.th. like this:

    12. If not check if you have Wiki2Touch turned on in BossPrefs.
