It seems a lot of people are having the same problem as me.

I have followed all instructions to download the wikipedia.app and have SFTP'd the .dump file over the iPod.

When I open the wikipedia.app and search for something, tapping a search result makes the .app crash and revert to the home screen.

I am having the same 'symptoms' as others who, when extracting the 2.2gig dump file, found that the 'wp' folder only came to 56.7mb.

Have we missed something? Please help me and many others out.

I had the same problems. If the dump comes out to only 50 or so mb, you have to download it with a *******. It took me a lot longer but for some reason the direct download doesn't "work" right.
So download it with a ******* and then unzip. Then extract, set permissions of the app to 755 and the folder stuff to 755. It should work then.

Right, it seems the soloution is to use Winrar to extract the .tar file.

After doing that I used t-pot and Total Commander to put the 'wp' folder into \var\root.

I WAS using a different extracting program so you MUST use the free trial/full version of Winrar to extract it.

I have found the solution (I think).

When you tap on the search result, it takes a while to load. You CAN NOT touch the screen during this time. If you do, the app will crash. You must wait until the entire article has loaded and then touch the screen.
