I know there are a couple Wifi programs out there for the iPod Touch, but I want to know which is the most recommended. I want one that selects the strongest network, and once you're connect it tells you if you are getting closer or farther to the access point (it would be like playing the hot and cold game with signal strength). There are many times when I connect to the strongest signal, but it is still weak. I walk around, and usually end up losing the signal and it takes forever before I get close enough to the AP. Especially with just the 3 bars Apple gives. Plus, most of the programs out there will not select a single channel. They will continue to scan everything, and I just want to know about the one that is strongest/ closest to me.

    Thank you!

I think I didn't make myself clear. Once I'm connected, the signal is often very weak. This signal strength indicator doesn't update often enough, and it is too general.

For example, I take 5 steps trying to get a better signal. Most of the time I can't tell if it made a difference, and I have to wait. Even if it does, it might not be enough difference to raise or lower a bar on the display. Half the time, I walk one way, think it's getting weaker, turn around and find out I just got further.

This would be solved if something would tell me the noise level, and refreshed once per second. StumblerPlus gives me decent result, but there is no auto update and it doesn't display enough information at the home screen. It is much better than the original though.
