So this is really kind of a bummer but the wifi is refusing to work and i'm definitely contemplating returning it and keeping my 2g.

seems i'm not the only one with this problem

i've tried resetting it, resetting the network settings, forgetting the network and reconnecting to it, and the renew lease option. also went through router settings and saw nothing out of the ordinary. its a linksys wrt350n router btw if anyone is curious. i can occasionally get it to connect and it will work for anywhere from 1 minute to maybe 10 mins i think was the longest. it will then out of no where just stop functioning. everything still shows it's connected but it's not.

every other wifi device in the house works fine including the 2g touch i still have. i read that the 4g will only work with wireless-N at 2.4ghz. i know i have an n-router but unsure what frequency it's at. i didn't see any settings to change it anyway. maybe that's the problem?

    thoughts? :/

No, it should run with wireless b/g/n routers. Says so on the apple website I think.

You could of course restore and see if that fixes the problem and if it doesen't get it replaced at an apple store or return it.

thought this fixed it, and within 2 minutes it was back to the same old sh*t. this is thoroughly disappointing.

It is kinda weird that iPod Touch 4G only allows 2.4 Ghz N. if you use 5 GHz, the device refused to connect.

Giving the phone back to the retailer should be your last resort as with proper help and thinking and searching, you'll be able to resolve it.

    it's not just n, it's b, g and n. The 2.4 Ghz part is right^^.

it works with every other wirelessly connected item in the house so i don't believe that's the issue..

is there someone out there that can confirm they have a 4g touch that does work with wifi correctly? i dunno what to do. i don't want to go and trade out the one i have for another if the problem is still going to be there.
