Hey guys, just installed Textnow app on my ipod touch. I would like to know if its possible to leave my wifi on even when the ipod is locked so therefore i can still receive my text messages.

Side question, What are your thoughts of textnow, and what you think is better textnow or textfree unlimited and why. Also, once you uninstall textnow it seems that you can't get your texting address back.Is that true?

    Thank you,
    Mike

    1. Theres a mod in cydia that keeps wifi on even when asleep,(goes look)

2.textfree is free texting and only has adds while textnow has a trial and then you have to pay for either a year or life time. ONce you uninstall textnow the texting address is saved to your device.

    1. If you can remember the mod, it would really help. Does it waste alot more battery though?

    2. So even if i do an firmware upgrade, it would still work?

Thank you, i appreciate your help.

Idk depends on other factors too, using wifi just drains the battery alot. Turn off when not in use.

Your iPod will notify you of new texts even when your iPod is in sleep mode via "push notification" (if you have them ON)

If you manually turn your devices connection to wifi off, then you will not be connected to any internet, so your device cannot check for new push notifications.

    I suggest enabling push notifications.

Cameraboirzu, it does not notify me the exact moment the text message is sent, i know that for a fact. Also does the ipod automatically connect to the internet every 30 min or so and check for notifications? Can i set it to like every 5 min.
    Thanks guys
