Many people are having issues setting up and configuring their wireless routers. Search and read the forums for more detailed advice. Some things you can try -

    1. Get the latest upgrade to your firmware for your router
    2. Turn off security and see if you can get online
    3. DHCP seems to be problematic for many people - get the manual for your router and setup your iPod Touch to use a static address in your house

I was having similar problems as described with a Linksys wireless router and my new iPod touch. I upgraded the firmware to the latest file on the router, (found on the Linksys website) and used the WEP Key Number (not the pass phrase word) - also note - you must be case sensitive in the Key Number - after re-setting all the security settings on the router. This method worked. Too bad Apple does not have a better interface to connect to wireless networks with security pass phrases. Hope this helps someone out there, enjoy. Once it starts working it is a very interesting device.
