    Hi guys

Whenever I turn off my iPod (3rd gen) I always turn off my wifi and when I turn it on I turn the wifi back on and so on.

Is it better to leave the wifi on, so when I start it up its on already on ready to use, or are there downsides to doing this? Is there downsides to turning it on and off?

Just curious to know what you guys think.

    cheers

If by third gen you mean 3.0 firmware, It's better to have it off to conserve battery. There's no sense having it on if you aren't using wi-fi.

If you're turning the iPod off, there's no need to turn Wi-Fi off every time you turn it off.

When you mean "off" do you mean locked?

If so, then it doesn't matter the iPod or iPhone disconnects and turns off wifi while locked. So your just wasting time if so.

If you use your iPod for a long period of time and not for Internet access, then it's such a waste of battery to keep your WiFi constantly switched on... You don't have to switch off your WiFi when turning off the iPod touch, like what zezima1075 said, it will disconnect upon poweroff...

i leave my wifi - on, push - on and full brightness - on permanently. ok, not too battery friendly, but who cares? it's up to you.

if by 3rd gen you mean 3.0 firmware, and by turning it off you mean locking it, then it doesnt really matter because wifi goes off a few minutes after lock anyway. and it power off then that doesnt matter too.
